Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of  Mrs. Frances Roberts Stewart, age 92, of Swainsboro, GA, on Wednesday, July 31,2019, at Cedar Plantation in Metter, GA.

Funeral services will be Sunday, August 4, 2019 at 4:00 PM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Donnie Daniels officiating.

Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery near Dellwood with Rev. Cail Pressey officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, August 4, 2019 from 3:00 PM till time of service.

Pallbearers are Matthew McNeely, Bert Stewart IV, Jason McNeely, Corey McNeely, Allan Conlan, Jeremy Way,  and Hudson Johnson.

Honorary Escorts will be the Agape Sunday School Class of  Swainsboro First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Stewart was born December 27, 1926 in Harbeson City, FL, to the late Mack Ray and Janie Rickards Roberts,  was a 1943 graduate of Swainsboro High School and received her secretarial degree from Andrew College in 1945. Her desire to be a secretary took her to Tallahassee, FL to the Tyndall Field Air Force Base.  After the war, bases were being close,  she transferred to Carrabelle FL Army Base and later to the Veterans Administration in Dublin, GA where she met and married Robert S. Stewart Jr. her beloved husband in 1947. In 1949 she and her late husband of 56 years, moved to Swainsboro, GA and opened Stewart's Jewelers, the business celebrated it's 70 anniversary this year (2019).  Mrs. Stewart was active in church and civic affairs, in the 1970's she was treasurer of the Swainsboro Merchants Association, helped to organize and played piano for the children's choirs at the Swainsboro First Methodist Church and was president of the night circle.  Later, as a member of Calvary United Methodist Church was church organist, choir pianist and taught Adult Sunday School.  She was an avid supporter of the children and youth helping to organize the missionette program at the First Assembly of God Church, as well as play organ for the church, choir pianist and taught Sunday School.  Mrs. Stewart was a member of Swainsboro First Baptist Church, Agape Sunday Class, and played piano for the Older Adult Sunday School opening services. In the last few years she attended Hawhammock Baptist Church with her family and in addition to her parents, and husband she is preceded in death by her son, Mack Stewart; sister, Jeanette Brinson; and brother, William Roberts.

Survivors include:

Son: Robert S. "Sammy" Stewart III (Janice) of Swainsboro, GA

Daughter: Sallie S. McNeely (Craig) of Swainsboro, GA

Sister-In-Law: Barbara Roberts of Swainsboro, GA

Seven Grandchildren: Fran Conlan (Allan), Erin Way (Jeremy), Matthew McNeely (Joni), Bert Stewart IV (Hannah), Jason McNeely (Rebecca), Corey McNeely (Brittany) and Bonnie Johnson (Hudson).

Twelve Great-Grandchildren: Brett, Marshall, Liam, Kiera, Easton, Charlie, Reese, Kellan, Madelyn, Macy, Piper, John-Mitchell, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Hawhammock Baptist Church Children's Ministry, 27 Hawhammock Church Rd. Swainsboro, GA  30401.

"Miss" Francis has always been a very special person to me.She always had a beautiful smile and had the rare ability to make you feel special. God has taken a wonderful christian home.

So sorry for the lost of Ms. Frances. She was a special lady. She lived a good life and is in a better place. I was out of town and did not know anything about it. My prayers go out to all of you. May God be with all of you.
