Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. John Marvin Wheeler, age 69, of Dellwood on Thursday, November 9, 2017.

Funeral services will be Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Franklin Sasser officiating

Interment will follow in the Smith-Bird Cemetery at 3:00 PM in Ellabell, GA .

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 5-7 PM.

Pallbearers are  Ricky Bryant, Greg Johnson, Brian Johnson, Jeff Owens, James Claxton and Jimmie Dean Peebles.

Mr. Wheeler was born August 31, 1948 in Swainsboro, Emanuel County, GA to the late John T. and Frances Bridges Wheeler.  He was a retired Heavy Equipment Mechanic with Tractor & Equipment Co. for many years, loved fishing, was an avid Braves fan, loved Nascar and a true Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan. He was preceded in death by his wife Marcia A. Van Brackle Wheeler and sister, Catherine Hopkins.

Survivors include:

One Daughter: Frances "Fran" Dowd of Douglas, GA

Three Sisters: Vicky Fowler (Darrell) of Nunez, GA, Sarah Farrow of Swainsboro, GA, Lynn Price (Randy) of Wrightsville, GA

Two Brothers: Van Wheeler of Nunez, GA and Paul Wheeler (Paula) of Swainsboro, GA

Two Grandchildren: Brandy Youngblood (Jason) and Brittnay Johnson (Daniel).

Three Great-Grandchildren: Zachary Johnson, Olivia Youngblood and Jessie Edmunds.
