Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. James Daniel "Dan" Womack, age 91, of Garfield, GA, on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at the Emanuel Medical Center.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Randy Adams officiating, assisted by Elder Tommy Rountree.

Interment will follow in the Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Elder Sam Bowen officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday morning from 9:00 AM till time of service.

Pallbearers are  Glen Womack, Kerry Roach, David Womack, Jack Daughtry, Jerry Gay and Sterling Miller

Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of Hebron Primitive Baptist Church.

Mr. Womack was born February 28, 1923 in Garfield, Emanuel County, GA, graduated from Garfield High School and Draughton's Business College of Savannah, GA.  In 1943 he was employed with the 8th Air Force working with the Core of Engineers, later transferring to the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL and retiring from Union Camp Paper Corporation after 20 years of service.  In May 1968 he moved to his old home place and began working with the Swainsboro Post office, was appointed postmaster of Hagan, GA in 1974, was transferred to Midville Post Office in 1983 and retired a second time in 1990.  Mr. Womack was an accountant by trade, and had been a Tax Consultant for the past 60 years.  He was a Vice President and Editor of the Georgia Branch, National League of Postmasters, Resigning the Editor's Position in 1982 and serving as State President of the Georgia Branch, National League of Postmasters.  Mr. Womack was a past deacon and treasurer of  Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and later moved his membership to Hebron Primitive Baptist Church in Garfield, GA.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Moses Malcolm and Naomi Bennett Womack and eleven siblings.

Survivors include:

His Wife  of 66 years: Mary Helen Johnson Womack of Garfield, GA

Two Daughters: Danette Davis and Pam Drake (Chris) all of Garfield, GA

Three Grandchildren: Jennifer Davis, Maggie Drake, Jamie Drake, nieces, nephews and extended family.

Am saddened to learn of Dan's death. My Mom (Susie B Womack) became reacquainted with him when he became PostMaster in Midville and frequently told me how much she liked him. I often saw him at Bethany, before he was admitted there, when visiting my Aunt Sarah (Black) Johnson.
