Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Mary Helen Vaughan Welborn, age 79, of Swainsboro, GA, on Wednesday, January 07, 2015 at the Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 09, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Swainsboro First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Leigh officiating.

Interment will follow in the Eastbrook Cemetery

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6-8 PM

Mrs. Welborn will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers are  Richard Daniels, Ed Daniels, Henry Terwilliger, Sheriff Tyson Stephens, Sidney Lanier and Butch Frye

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Fidelis Sunday School Class

Mrs. Welborn, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, was born in Union, SC and retired as a sales clerk with Dolores & Woodys Shops.  She was a member of the Swainsboro First Baptist Church, the Fidelis Sunday School Class and was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Grace Cudd Vaughan and brothers, Howard Vaughan Jr. and Gene Vaughan.

Survivors includes:

Her Husband of 53 years: Blaine Welborn of Swainsboro, GA

One Daughter: Maria Daniels (Sam) of Swainsboro, GA

Five Sisters: Sara Sprouse, Betty Harmon, Rachel Gregory (James), Nancy Anderson (Les) and Diane Roarke (Russ) all of Union, SC

One Brother: Don Vaughan (Fran) of Union, SC

Two Grandsons: Richard Blaine Daniels, Jacob Vaughan Daniels, several nieces, nephews and extended family.

The family would like to express there sincere thanks and appreciation, for the excellent care received by Mrs. Welborn, to the Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home Staff as well as staff of  Community Hospice.

I was so sorry to hear about Mrs Mary. She was such a sweet and kind lady. I enjoyed the time that I was able to work with her. She was a great friend and coworker. Mrs Mary's pride and joy was her family and I know she will be greatly missed by them. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time.

Blaine and Maria, we have just heard about the death of Mary. We are so sorry we didn't know in time to come to visitation and funeral. You all were good neighbors when we lived across the street from you. Know we are thinking of you and are in our prayers.
