Winnie Mae (Raffield) Bunn

Mrs. Winnie Mae Raffield Bunn, 93, of Midville passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at her Burke County home.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Hyland C. Bunn;sister, Louise McHardy; brothers, Bufford Raffield and George Raffield..  Mrs. Bunn was born in Laurens County, Georgia on May 26, 1931.  She graduated from Dudley High School in 1948 where she was a member of the BETA club and star basketball player along with her cousins.  She graduated from Georgia Baptist (Mercer) in 1953 and was voted best all-around by the senior class.  In 2003, she was inducted into the 1//2 century club of Mercer.

 Mrs. Bunn was serving Burke County Hospital as a nurse and head nurse for many years.  She later worked for the Ogeechee Mental Health Services of Burke County.  She loved gardening and landscaping her home in Midville.  She was a member and past president of the Midville Garden Club.  Mrs. Bunn served as a faithful member of Midville Baptist Church where she was a former choir director for the junior and senior choirs and a V.B.S. worker, where she loved all of the area children.

She is survived by 4 sons; Hyland Bunn (Cheryl) of Augusta, Gregg Bunn (Kim) of Waynesboro, Steve Bunn of Midville and Jeff Bunn (Julie) of Midville; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 4, 2024, at Midville City Cemetery with Reverend Daryl Cox officiating.
