Vickie Marie Hutcheson Youmans Obituary

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Vickie Marie Hutcheson Youmans, age 72, on May 15, 2026.  She passed away peacefully at her home.

Mrs. Youmans was born in Emanuel County on July 14, 1953 to the late Kenneth Edward Hutcheson and Rose Marie Henry Hutcheson.  She was the granddaughter of the late Lonnie and Sarah Hutcheson and Grady and Ruby Henry.  She graduated in 1971 from Swainsboro High School, where she was crowned prom queen.  She went on to earn a certificate in Shorthand, Typing, and Office Procedures from Swainsboro Technical School.  In 1974, she married her high school sweetheart, Michael Estes Youmans.  The same year, she joined Shepherd, Gary, and McWhorter, Attorneys at Law, where she remained a loyal employee for 50 years.  In a Resolution presented in her honor, it was noted that her talent and skills in real estate, probate, and estate work helped countless citizens in Emanuel and surrounding counties.  Her work genuinely spoke for itself.

Mrs. Youmans was a charter member of the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, a long time member of the Ida Belle Williams Book Club, First Baptist Church of Swainsboro, and Grace Sunday School Class.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed writing.  She loved sending note cards to friends, family, and especially her grandchildren, all four of whom were her pride and joy.  She loved the simple things in life: decorating her home for holidays, fine china, pearls, and making her house a home.

Survivors include: Her husband of 51 years, Mike Youmans.  A son, Michael Brandon Youmans, and a daughter, Brooke Youmans Frye (Peyton); Four grandchildren, Molly Kathryn Youmans, Lawson Wade Frye, Anna Caroline Frye, and Michael Stewart Youmans; Her sister, Teresa H. Wages (Donnie); Brother-in-law, P.O. Youmans, Jr. (Emmalene); Special nieces: Hannah Wages Hutcheson, Vanessa Youmans Wilkes, Valerie Youmans; Several cousins and extended family.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 20th, 2026 at three o’clock in the afternoon at the First Baptist Church of Swainsboro with Jack Whitehead, Casey Shaw, and Gabe Norris officiating.

Interment will follow at Eastbrook Cemetery and Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends and family at First Baptist Church one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers are: Rex Powell, Jimmy May, Bill Youngblood, Dale Williams, Jerry Bedingfield, Kinny Dorsey, Butch Frye, and Stan Lawson.

Honorary pallbearers are past and present members of the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, the Ida Belle Williams Book Club, and members of Grace Sunday School Class.  Additional honorary pallbearers are Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Atkinson, Mr. and Mrs. Don Flanders, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Canady, Mr. and Mrs. Bill McWhorter, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Youngblood, Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Youmans, Mr. and Mrs. Freddie McVey, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Reddish, Mr. and Mrs. Cooper Henry, Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Womack, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Metcalf, Mr. and Mrs. Corky Lanier, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Livingston, Mr. Woody Nasworthy, Mrs. Linda Holder, Mr. Bob Youmans, Mrs. Carole Yeomans, Mr. Ted Vaughn, Mr. Charles Garrett, Mrs. Joan Hall, Mrs. Lisa Shaw, and Mrs. Pam Edenfield.
