Vera Porterfield (White) Deal

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Vera Porterfield Deal, age 94, of Twin City, GA, on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Emanuel County Nursing Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Pastor Lank McRae officiating and Rev. Louis Pearce assisting.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery

Pallbearers are Kirk Cavanah, Cassidy Johnson, Thomas Douglas, Blake Edenfield, Joe Canady, and Joe Underwood, Jr.

Honorary Escorts are Ben Johnson, Eddie White, Buddy Brinson, Johnny O’Neal, and Teddy Bailey.

Mrs. Deal was born December 19, 1927 in Metter, Candler County, GA to the late William Jackson and Mattie Bell Collins White. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening. Mrs. Deal adored her grandchildren, loved family gatherings, and telling stories amongst each other. She was fun, spunky, and had a great sense of humor. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 30 plus years and father of her children, John Robert Porterfield, sister, Retta Brinson, and brothers, Grady White, Bill White, John White, Walter White, Dick White, George White, and grandson, Leo Duncan.

Survivors Include:

Daughters: Ninette Johnson (Derwin) and Willette Cavanah (Gary) both of Twin City, GA

Son: Sam Porterfield (Lewis Truett) of Woodstock, GA

Sisters: Annie Ruth Underwood, Linda Rountree, and Martha Campbell all of Swainsboro, GA

Grandchildren: Heather Canady (Joe), Valerie Douglas (Thomas), Cassidy Johnson (Heather), Kelly McRae (Lank), Kirk Cavanah (Jill), Zachary Truett, and Abigail Duncan (Levi).

14 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
