Vela Mae Cumbee

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of  Mrs. Vela Mae Cumbee, age 92, of Twin City, GA, on Thursday, December 12, 2019, at Emanuel Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 3:00 PM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Elder Tommy Rountree officiating.

Interment will follow in the Old Canoochee Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on December 13, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

Pallbearers are John Johnson, Alan Johnson, John Walls, Tyler Surrency, Travis Rowland, Jr., and Travis Rowland, Sr.

Honorary Escorts are Loyd Johnson and Jamie Johnson.

Mrs. Cumbee was born July 24, 1927 in Garfield, Emanuel County, GA to the late Albert and Janie Johnson. She was a retired seamstress with Twin City Manufacturing. She was a member of the Twin City First Baptist Church. She loved reading her Bible, crossword puzzles, crocheting, fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Ernest Odell Cumbee, two sons, Jimmy Dean Cumbee and Jeffrey Keith Cumbee, three brothers, Doc Johnson,  Daniel Johnson, and Loye Johnson, Sr., and one sister, Cleo Walls.

Survivors Include:

Her Daughter: Lisa Hadden (Travis) of Adrian, GA

Her Son: Tommy Cumbee (Cathy) of Dublin, GA

Nine GrandChildren, Twenty-Two Great – Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and Extended Family.
