Toby Gay Johnson

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. Toby Gay Johnson, age 64, of Garfield, GA on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Candler County Hospital in Metter, GA.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM, at Canoochee Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. John David Durden officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hebron Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday Evening, June 26, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.

Pallbearers are:   Wendell Smith, William Riner, Dan Cowart, Larry Hall, Mike Cross, Mike Hobbs, Rocky Price, Steve Johnson and Jeff Joiner.

Honorary Pallbearers are Employees of Norfolk Southern Railroad.

Mr. Johnson was born November 16, 1953 in Millen, Jenkins County, GA, to the late Taylor and Myra Gay Johnson.  He was a retired supervisor with Norfolk Southern Railroad and a Baptist.

Mr. Johnson loved fishing at Shellman’s Bluff, loved his dogs, and he was devoted to his family.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Johnson and a sister, Frances Oxford.   

Survivors include: 

Three Daughters:  Regina Tabor (Dewayne), Christie Henry (Mace), and Caitlin Taylor (Kevin) all of Garfield, GA.

One Sister:  Deloach Martin of Swainsboro, GA

Seven Grandchildren:  Emilee and Eli Tabor, Hagan, Hudson, Hadleigh Kate and Hane Henry, and Trinity Taylor.
