Mrs. Teresa Ann Bishop, 68, of Pembroke passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro following an extended illness. She was born October 19, 1957, in Swainsboro to the late Ray Farrow and Sara Frances Oglesby Farrow. Teresa was preceded in death by her parents; nephew, Randy Farrow, Jr.; great niece, Lydia Farrow; brothers-in-law, Joe Bishop and Lewis Bishop.
She had a spirit and heart unlike anyone you’ve ever met. Teresa was born in Swainsboro and raised in Summertown, Georgia. She loved her mama and daddy deeply. Growing up she was known by TC by those closest to her. She enjoyed spending her time reading, going to the skating rink, and eating pineapple sandwiches. Teresa didn’t like being the middle child but adored her brother and sister. She’d often recount twirling her older sister’s, Linda, hair to fall asleep and roughhousing with her little brother, Randy. And she always held her own. She was extremely smart and never missed a day of school.
At 15 years old, she met the love of her life, Richard Bishop, through his sister. They lived only a couple of houses from each other at the time. Teresa knew immediately she was going to marry him, and that’s just what she did. Though, she probably wouldn’t have given him much of a choice. They were married for almost 51 years and rarely spent a day apart from the time they met. She loved him unconditionally from that first day to her last.
She had her first child not long after they married, a boy named Wes. She loved him so much; she didn’t consider having more children for the longest time. She wanted to give her attention 100% to him. It would be 18 years before she had her second, a girl, named Taylor. She spoiled both her children. She loved buying them clothes and dressing them up. Most people know she was a tad overprotective. She also didn’t play about schoolwork. She worked hard, so they could have the world. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for her kids from the beginning to the very end. She loved them to the moon and back.
Teresa chose to go to school to be a nurse. During her career, she helped many patients. They described her as the bright spot during their hard times. She was not only kind but honest. It was almost impossible to go out to eat without someone recognizing “Ms. Teresa” and stopping by to say hello.
At home, Teresa loved lifetime movies and reality TV. You could often find her on the couch with Coca-Cola and oatmeal cream pie. Her little dog Maggie was always right beside her. She enjoyed vacations to Florida but only because she could lay out by the pool and relax. She never was much of a cook, unless it was spaghetti. She cared for her grandchildren, Halli and Dawson, as her own. Later, her great-grandchildren would bring her the same happiness as all the other kids had before. You’d never find her without her fuzzy socks and a blanket. Her entire family was the light of her life and what she considered her greatest achievement.
Mrs. Teresa Ann Bishop was loving, kind, smart, and stubborn. We are blessed to call her a wife, mama, sister, nena, and friend. She is with us in our hearts forever.
