Durden Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Stephen Ricky Woods, 58, of Swainsboro, who passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, in Savannah, following an extended illness.

Memorial service will be conducted Friday, March 7, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Reverend Morris Brantley officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, March 7, 2025, at Durden Hudson Funeral Directors.

Ricky was a loving, devoted brother, father, husband, grandfather and uncle.  He retired from the Emanuel County Road Department in 2019 where he was a heavy equipment operator.  Ricky enjoyed fishing with his grandson, Zephaniah and his late son Benji, as well as anyone who would go along with him. He loved the goat sale and would not miss it even if you begged him to.  Ricky was a jack of all trades and teacher of many things.  He liked to tinker “as he called it” with small engines.  He would work on and build anything. If you called Ricky to help you with something, he was on his way.  “After dinner” as he would say, “I will be by there after dinner”.  His favorite pastime was having his wife drive him around town to family and friends houses to sit outside with and visit awhile.  Where he was sure to play a prank, crack a joke and most definitely make you laugh.  He was always ready for a good ol’ fish fry or cooking outside with his children.  Ricky didn’t meet a stranger often claiming you as family almost instantly.  He was always down to barter and trade with you on a good deal.  Ricky would tell you the same story many times over as if it were the first time telling you.  If you were having a bad day, he was sure to turn that around with a short conversation.  Ricky made a lasting impression and a lifetime of incredible memories on everyone who knew him.  So for now it’s not goodbye, it’s “See y’all later” as he would say each time he would depart from someone.

Mr. Woods was proceeded in death by his parents, Ernest Benjamin Woods and Louise Larisey Woods; son, Benji Woods; brothers, Bruce Woods, Buddy Woods; sisters, Patsy Lee, Earnestine Kersey.

Survivors Include:

Wife of 26 years: Genette Woods of Swainsboro.

Son: Dakota Anderson of Swainsboro.

Daughters: Cierra Woods of Swainsboro, Faith Younk of Indiana, Marlana Doyle (Demetrious) of Swainsboro.

Brothers: Frank Woods, Sr. of Swainsboro.

Sisters: Jinny Peebles of Swainsboro.

13 Grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
