Royce J. Kersey

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. Royce J. Kersey, age 79, of Adrian, GA, on October 18, 2022, at his residence.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 21, 2022, at 11:00 AM in the Sardis Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Sam Adkins officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Church one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow in the Sardis Primitive Baptist Cemetery

Pallbearers are Vince Ellington, Verde Ellington, Vernon Ellington, lScott Johnson, Joey Tirpak and Joseph Ellington.

Honorary Pallbearers will be lSteve Jones, Harvey Anders, Lavonne Amerson and Wailand Jones.

Mr. Kersey, Royce was born April 1, 1943, to the late, Joseph Aaron and Ruth Scott Kersey in Adrian, Emanuel County, GA. He was a 1962 graduate of Savannah High School and was owner of Royce Kersey Agency of Matthews, NC, for many years.  Royce had an infectious since of humor; was an avid NASCAR fan; loved camping and fishing; and in his own mind was an awesome grill master. All joking aside he was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather, and a member of Sardis Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include:

Wife of 32 years: Sherry Anderson Kersey of Adrian, GA

Daughters: Kimberly Kersey (Joey Tirpak) of Rincon, GA; Stephanie Nolan; and Melanie Kersey (Scott Johnson) all of Palmetto, FL.

Sons: Linton Wingard of Gastonia, NC; and Michael Wingard (Michelle) of Woodruff, SC.

Sister: Carol Kersey Anderson of Savannah, GA

Grandchildren: Sarah Brown (John), Allan “Sloan” Hiott, Elayna Smith (John Constantine), Ethan Smith, Danielle Kersey (Michael Joseph), Hope Nolan, Chloe Wingard, Olivia Wingard, Grace Wingard, Isaiah Martin, James Martin and Jacob Martin.

Great-Grandchildren: Nathaniel Floyd, Braelyn Watkins and Zoey Hiott.

Nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
