Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. Raymond "Rabbit" Hendrix Jr., age 89, of Swainsboro, GA, on Friday, November 17, 2017 at his residence.
Funeral services will be Monday, November 20, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Louis Pearce officiating
Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery near Dellwood, GA.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5-7 PM
Pallbearers are Brittan Kendall, Shay Kelly, Ryan Price, Christopher Hendrix, Stephen Hendrix, Doug Mitchell and Nick Mitchell.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Georgia Power Ambassadors.
Mr. Hendrix was born April 23, 1928 in Carter County, TN to the late Raymond, Sr. and Ellen Wooby Hendrix and lived most of his life in Swainsboro, Emanuel County, GA. He was retired from Georgia Power after 40 plus years of service and was a member of Swainsboro First Baptist Church. Mr. Hendrix also served on the Deacon Board of Hillcrest Baptist Church, was a member of the Georgia Power Ambassadors, past member of the Swainsboro Kiwanis Club and was past Grand Marshall of the Pine Tree Festival Parade. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Hudson Hendrix; son, Andrew Hendrix; sisters, Mildred Radford, Alma Mikell, Catherine Anderson, Joyce Hendrix; and brother, Robert Hendrix.
Survivors include:
One Daughter: Donna Hendrix of Swainsboro, GA
Two Sons: Stephen Hudson Hendrix (Jean) of Kannapolis, NC and Timothy Wayne Hendrix (Judy) of Lyons, GA
Two Sisters: Mary Radford of Rincon, GA and Billie Anthony of Charleston, SC.
Seven Grandchildren: Ryan Price (Kim), Jennifer Kelly (Shay), Birttan Kendall, Elizabeth Weekly (Bryan), Stephen Hendrix (Lyndsay), Christopher Hendrix and Cassie Hendrix.
Six Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
