Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Maxine Sweat Carter McCullough, age 85, of Soperton, GA on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Community Hospice in Vidalia, GA.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Swainsboro First Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Sweat officiating assisted by Rev. Hal Wilson.
Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5-7 PM.
Pallbearers are Shane Carter, Jordy Carter, Brian Carter, Brent Carter, Landon Carter, Evan Carter, Jack Brinson Carter and Jordan Carter.
Honorary Escorts will be Johnny Sikes, Donald Pullen, Corbin Wiggins, Ernest Franklin, Louis Pearce, Ray Jenkins, Agape Sunday School Class and Employees of Farmers Home Furniture Co.
Mrs. McCullough was born January 7, 1932 in Soperton, Treutlen County, GA to the late William Bascum and Annie Mae Kitchens Sweat and lived most of her life in Swainsboro, GA. She was a member of Norristown Baptist Church and long time member of the Swainsboro First Baptist Church. Mrs. McCullough was Librarian of the Franklin Memorial Library for 20 years and after retirement was owner/operator of the Edenfield House Inn Bed and Breakfast. She was a past member of the Green Thumb Garden Club and also served as president a number of years. Mrs. McCullough was preceded in death by her first husband, Brinson "Dick" Carter; sisters Olene McDaniel, Barbara Jenkins and brother, Rev. William "Billy" Sweat.

Two Sons: Gary Carter (Priscilla) of Norristown, GA and Wayne Carter (Gail) of Metter, GA.
One Step-Son: Terrell F. Machaby (Diane) of Ponte Vedra, FL
One Sister: Marjorie Keen of East Dublin, GA
Four Grandchildren: Shane Carter, Jordy Carter (Jill), Brian Carter (Christy) and Brent Carter (Candace).
Seven Step-Grandchildren: Kenny Hester (Brandi), Tiffany Holmes (Brandon), Kim Sherlton (Marty), Scott F. Machaby, T. J. Machaby, Alex Wilkes USN MC2 (Laura) and Ben Wilkes.
Thirteen Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
