Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Mattie Mae Stapleton, age 88, of Swainsboro, GA, on Friday, February 21, 2020, at Pruitt Health Nursing Home.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. John Hancock officiating.
Interment will be in the Forest Lawn Cemetery
The family will receive friends at Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors,Wednesday, February 26, 2020 from 6-8:00 PM.
Pallbearers are: Gauge Coxwell, Thomas Hancock, Freddy Allen and Willie Screws.
Mrs. Stapleton was born October 20, 1931 in Swainsboro, Emanuel County, GA to the late Joe and Mae Allen Stapleton. She was a homemaker and loved animals. She enjoyed helping on the farm at a young age. In her later years she loved singing in church and playing bingo. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Lucian Stapleton.

Her First Cousins: Willie Screws of Hayesville, NC and Nancy Atkins of Swainsboro, GA
Her Third and Fifth Cousins: Ricky Screws, his wife Candi, and their children, Haley Buxton and Hannah Screws all of Swainsboro; Haley Blackwell and Missy Newsome, also of Swainsboro, GA
Nephews: Don Stapleton of Merritt Is., FL and Dewayne Stapleton of Gowanda, NY
