Mary (Cannady) Stroud

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Mary Cannady Stroud, age 72, of Swainsboro, GA, on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Navicent Health in Macon, GA.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Dr. Tom Akins officiating.

Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery with Pastor. Harry Hadden officiating.

The family will receive friends Monday evening April 3, 2023, at the funeral home from 6-8 PM

Pallbearers are Dal Cannady, Jeff Kirby, Chris Kirby, Brad Kirby, Kyle Hooks, Todd Roberson, Brent Freeman, and Ron Claxton.

Mrs. Mary was born July 26, 1950, to the late Bennie Leon and Pearl Johnson Cannady, in Swainsboro, Emanuel County, GA.  She was a 1968 graduate of ECI (Emanuel County Institute) and was employed by Kight’s Auto Auction for many years.  Mrs. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and affectingly known as “Dubbies” by her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing and the beach, yet her greatest joy was her family, spending time with her grands and great-grands. Mrs. Mary was a member of Oaky Grove Baptist Church and in addition to her parents was preceded in death by her sister, Linda J. Kirby; brothers, Benny Cannady and Jerry Cannady.

Survivors include:

Her Loving Husband of 50 years: Charles Ray Stroud of Swainsboro, GA.

Daughters: Donna Kay Stroud and Diana Stroud Holden (Michael) all of Swainsboro, GA.

Brother: Jimmy E. Cannady (Gean) of Griffin, GA.

Sister-In-Law: Linda Cannady of Statesboro, GA.

Brother-In-Law: Jerry Kirby of Pooler, GA.

Grandchildren: Tiffany Johnson (Mathew), Eric Johnson and Andrew Johnson.

Great-Grandchildren: Drayton Devivo and Brantsyn Devivo.

Many nieces, nephews and extended family.
