Mary Evelyn (Martin) Jones

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Mary Evelyn Jones, age 95, of Swainsboro, GA., on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home.

Funeral Services will be Friday, March 29, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Steve Dowless officiating.

Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6-8 PM and at her home.

Pallbearers are  Garrett Martin, Owen Martin, Karon Martin, Allen Martin, Carey Martin and Jason Martin.

Mrs. Jones was born January 1, 1924 in Twin City, Emanuel County, GA to the late Carey C. and Mamie  Lou Rushton Martin, and retired from Swainsboro Sportswear. She loved working in her yards, flower gardening, her greenhouse and enjoyed fishing.  Mrs. Jones loved her God, her church, and her pride and joy was her family.  She was a member of Swainsboro Freewill Baptist Church and in addition to her parents was preceded in death by her husband, John Alvin Jones; three sisters, Dorothy M. McNure, Myzelle M. Faircloth, Essie M. Turner; three brothers, J. C. Martin, Jot W. Martin, Hugh "Pete" Martin.

Survivors include:

One Daughter: Jewell Johnson (Hugh) of Swainsboro, GA 

One Son: Carl E. Jones (Brenda) of Swainsboro, GA

One Brother: Leon Martin (Martha Ann) of Twin City, GA

Two Grandchildren: Greg E. Jones and Steven Johnson

Four Great-Grandchildren: Justin Bryant Jones (Ashley), Brittney Nichol Finch (Cody), Greenlee Kate Johnson and John Steven Johnson Jr.

Eight Great Great-Grandchildren: Lisa Jones, Wyatt Jones, Colt Jones, Danielle Jones, Kyla Finch, Cason Finch, Cael Finch, Camden Finch, nieces, nephews and extended family.
