Marse (Sherrod) Spence

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Marse Sherrod Spence, age 95, of Midville, GA, on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Randy Carnley officiating.

Interment will follow in the Union Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery officiated by Rev. Franklin Sasser.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

CDC social distancing guidelines will be observed and masks are encouraged for your safety and others

Pallbearers are Spencer Brannen, Jimmy Sherrod, Don Sherrod, Terry Lumley, Tyson Sherrod and Johnny Hurst.

Mrs. Spence was born February 23, 1925 in Midville, Emanuel County, GA, to the late Brady and Lannie Watkins Sherrod. She was a homemaker, Co-Owner of Spence Package Shop, worked many years for Twin City Manufacturing Co. as a seamstress and retired from Ithaca Ind.  After retirement she chaperoned the girls at the Modoc Group Home, was a member of Union Grove United Methodist Church, enjoyed fishing, flower gardening and traveling.  Mrs. Spence was a loving mother, grandmother,  great-grandmother and loved her precious fur baby Skippy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Bert Spence; sisters, Sally Oglesby and Edith Spence; and brothers, Esteen Sherrod and Grady Sherrod.

Survivors Include:

Daughter: Doris Dailey of Millen, GA

Son: Ronnie Spence (Judy) of Midville, GA

Grandchildren: April Lumley (Terry) and Melissa Brannen.

Great-Grandchildren: Ansley Lumley and Spencer Brannen (Ansley)

Great-Great- Grandchild: Clarke Brannen, nieces, nephews and extended family.
