Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. William David Lamb of Swainsboro on October 17, 2021, at her home.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 10:00 AM at United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Norwood officiating.
Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery. Honorary Escorts will be Lee Canady, Dess Smith, Travis Garrett, Jim Dekle, Rhett Blount, and Keith Hadden.
Linda Dekle Lamb was born April 18, 1937, in Swainsboro, GA, the only child of James Roger and Genevieve Baxter Dekle. Linda married Dell R. Wightman in September of 1956 and lived in Martinsburg, WV, for 25 years. During that time, she taught elementary school in Berkeley County, WV, and also completed a masters degree in education. After returning to Swainsboro in the mid-1980's, Mrs. Lamb became the director of Emanuel Arts Council. She also reconnected with her high school sweetheart, David Lamb, and they married in June of 1988. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband of 17 years, William David Lamb. She enjoyed the Swainsboro Garden Club and the Ida Bell Williams Book Club, adored her friends, and loved to socialize.
Survivors include her children Kim Wightman Rundle (Robert) of Statesboro, GA; Gay Wightman Chapman of Swainsboro, GA; Deke Wightman (Lizzy) of Kennesaw, GA; and Amy Lamb Hadden (Keith) of Vidalia, GA., as well as her grandchildren Meredith Rundle Barnes (Craig); Philip Rundle (Miranda); Peter Rundle; Joshua Chapman; Sam Wightman; Benny Wightman; Brandon Hadden; and one great-grandchild, Juniper Barnes.
