Lewis Edward Oglesby

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors, announces the death of Mr. Lewis Edward Oglesby, age 81, of Swainsboro, GA, on Monday, July 4, 2022, at his residence.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 3 PM in the United Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Paul Thomas officiating.

Interment will follow in the Ebenezer Methodist Cemetery with Masonic Rites observed.

The family will received friends on Wednesday evening, July 6, 2022 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Joey Crapps, Danny Wayne Faircloth, Larry Morrison, Johnny Ray Stafford, Jimmy Sherrod, Ronnie Spence and Ronnie Henry.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Swainsboro Shrine Club and the Swainsboro Masonic Lodge #244.

Mr. Oglesby was born November 2, 1940, in Millen, Jenkins County, Georgia, to the late Lewis and Sallie Sherrod Oglesby. He was employed for 35 years as a truck driver with Walls Timber Co. After retiring he began a new career as a school bus driver, with the Emanuel County Board of Education, and retired a second time after 13 years.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed good food, spending time with his family, and watching TV.  Mr. Lewis was a member of the Swainsboro Masonic Lodge #244,  the Swainsboro Shrine Club and was a member of the United Primitive Baptist Church.

His Loving Wife of 63 Years: Betty Faircloth Oglesby of Swainsboro, GA

Sons: Mark Oglesby (Libby) and Michael Oglesby all of Swainsboro, GA

Sister: Joann O. Braddy of Summertown, GA

Grandchildren: Hunter Oglesby and Raelyn Oglesby
