LaVane (Lumpkin) Mills

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Ms. LaVane Mills, age 72, of Twin City, GA, on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at Serenity Place in Dublin, GA.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 11:00 AM in the Twin City United Methodist Church with Rev. Randall Smith officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10-11 AM at the church.

Interment will be Friday, September 17, 2021, at 11:30 AM in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery, 1661 Harmony Rd., Ashburn, GA.

Pallbearers are Brandon Neal, Brandon Jones, Jimmy Mincey, Travis Neal, Jack Mincey and Matt Hall.

Ms. Mills was born July 28, 1949, in Albany, GA to the late Albert Owens and Litha Whiddon Lumpkin and was a graduate of Turner County High School.  She had an extensive career as a church musician spanning 30 plus years, including the Twin City United Methodist Church, Harmony Baptist Church and numerous others.   Ms. Mills was a children’s choir director and a lifelong musician playing many funerals, weddings and other events.  Her greatest joy was her family, and when not spending time with her grandchildren, she loved needle point, growing African Violets, baking and doing crafts of all kinds. She was a member of the Twin City United Methodist Church, and in addition to her parents, was preceded in death by her husbands, Stan Hasty and Robbie F. Mills Jr.

Survivors include:

Daughters: Brandi Smith (James) of Macon, GA and Tara Mills (Mack) of Twin City, GA

Sons: Patrick Mills (Laura) of Sylvania, GA and Ivan Mills (Brandi) of Twin City, GA

Sister: Linda Davis of Macon, GA

Brother: Gordon Lumpkin (Nancy) of Wasilla, AK

Grandchildren: Caitlin McBride (Jarrett), Hannah Mills, Victoria Mills, Adyn Holden, Nataleigh Belcher, Ansley Smith, Rachel Smith, MacKinley Mills, Karaleigh Mills, Preston Rowland, Timothy Smith, Brigham Rowland, and Robbianna Rowland.

Great-Grandchild Gadson McBride, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
