Katie (Beckworth) Bell Rheney

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Katie Bell Rheney, age 99, of Swainsboro, GA on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Thomson Health and Rehab.

Graveside services will be Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers are Great-Grandsons: Jim Cowart, Kennedy Cowart, Buchanan Cowart, Hunter Cowart, Lee Cowart, and Taylor Carrington.

Mrs. Rheney was born December 10, 1918 to the late Charlie and Pinkie Parrish Beckworth, was a homemaker, foster parent for over 20 years, loved cooking, sewing, and quilting. She sewed parachutes during WWII, later ran her own alterations business and assisted with the family farm. Mrs. Rheney was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by her husbands, A. L. "Bogie" Bell and J. B. Rheney; daughter, Elizabeth Turner; sisters, Mary May, Cara Bell Hall, Vera Sandefor and Irene Bell; and brothers, Carl Beckworth, Ben Beckworth, Chandler Beckworth and Lloyd Beckworth.

Survivors include:

Two Sons: Chad Bell of Swainsboro, GA and Jimmy Bell of Vidalia, GA

One Sister: Madelle Wheeler of Vidalia, GA

One Son-In-Law: Stacy Turner of Thomson, GA

Three Grandchildren: Gary Cowart (Polly), Jeff Cowart (Lee Anne) and Donna Player (Rick)

Eight Great-Grandchildren, Three Great-Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
