Katie (Kight) Hooks

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Katie Hooks, of Garfield, GA, on Monday, November 20, 2017 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center, Statesboro, GA

Funeral services will be  Friday, November 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Harrell and Rev. H. G. Ridgdill officiating.

Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Hooks will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5-7 PM.

Pallbearers are  Heath Asbell, Chris Morton, Ronnie Beasley, David Marsh, Carl Wayne Bishop and Joseph Kincaid.

Honorary Escorts will be the Twin City Bus Drivers.

Mrs. Hooks was born June 24, 1955 in Kite, GA to the late J. B. and Loree Hopkins Kight and was a 1973 graduate of Johnson County High School. She also attended Swainsboro Technical College receiving a degree in Cosmetology and after 28 years of service, as a bus driver retired from the Emanuel County Board of Education. Her passion was loving and mothering children, fostering over 250 children in her lifetime she was an exceptional wife and mother. She was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church  and in addition to her parents was preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie Kight; and brother-in-law, Bobby McKenzie.

Survivors include:

Her Husband of 45 years: Larry Hooks of Garfield, GA

Five Daughters: Jessica Smith (Adam), Paula Kincaid (Joseph), Kati-Brooke Hooks and Jada Hooks all of Garfield, GA and Wendy Hooks of Portal, GA

Four Sons: Mickey Frederick (Leslie), Robbie Hooks, Zach Hooks and Cliff Hooks all of Garfield, GA.

Two Sisters: Cathy McKenzie of Twin City, GA and Faye Bishop (Carl Wayne) of Oak Park, GA.

Seven Grandchildren: Seth, Parker and Landon Frederick, Clay Smith, Leta, Paiyzli and Kaybrie Kellum.
