Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Kathy Lloyd Altman, age 66, of Roswell, GA, formerly of Swainsboro, GA on Sunday, August, 8, 2021. She died peacefully at home with her husband at her bedside.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM, in the First Baptist Church, 240 W. Mains St., Swainsboro, GA, with Rev. Dr. Bob Blankenship and Rev. Casey Shaw officiating. Masks are requested.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 12, 2021, from 5-7pm at Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors, 206 E. Pine St. Swainsboro, GA.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 10:00 AM in Sardis Cemetery; near Spanish Creek Rd. Folkston, GA. with Rev. Hal McIntosh officiating.
Escorts are Mack Altman, David Byrne, Billy Sasser, Tim Martin, Allen Smith and John Torpy.
Honorary Escorts will be the Grace Sunday School Class and the Tuesday Morning Prayer Group.
Kathy Lloyd Altman was born February 3, 1955, 3rd of six children to the late Lewis and Catherine Lloyd. She grew up in St. Mary’s and graduated from Camden County High School in 1973. Having a compassion for people and nursing, she graduated from Georgia Baptist School of nursing in 1976 with an RN degree. Kathy began her career at Charlton County Memorial Hospital, in Folkston, GA. There she met the love of her life, Hayward Altman. Her first date with Hayward was on 7/7/77; they were engaged 7/11/77 and married on 4/22/78. Moving to Swainsboro, GA in 1983, they raised two children in Swainsboro, Ward and Andrea. Continuing her passion for nursing, she worked at Emanuel Medical Center, later transferring to Ogeechee Area Detoxification Center and helped many overcome their addictions to drugs and alcohol. Kathy worked in Hospice and retired from East GA Healthcare in 2014, after a 38 year nursing career.
Kathy was a faithful woman who loved the Lord; her family; church and community. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Swainsboro, GA. Kathy was a 6 year survivor of stage 4 metastatic breast cancer and she maintained a smile throughout. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving brother-in-law Gates Elmore.

Her husband of 43 years: Hayward Altman of Roswell, GA
Two children: Ward Altman (Jamie) of Frisco, TX and Andrea Byrne (David) of Roswell, GA.
Four wonderful grandchildren: Mack and Zoey Altman and Lillian and Cora Byrne.
Five siblings: Gerrie Peeples (Kerry) of Kingsland, GA, Wayne Lloyd of Lake Hartwell, GA, David Lloyd (Pam) of St. Mary’s, GA, Bonnie Elmore of Alpharetta, GA and Larry Lloyd of Folkston, GA
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
