Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Juanita Smith Bailes, affectionately know as "Ma Bailes" age 96, of Swainsboro, GA, on Friday, December 7, 2018, at her residence.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, December 11 , 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jamie Archer officiating.
Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 1:00 PM till time of service.
Pallbearers are Jacob Bailes, Perry Bailes, Robbie Bailes, Brandon Archer, Dallas Bailes and Drake Archer.
Mrs. Bailes was born November 1, 1922 in Cookeville, TN to the late Perry H. and Ella Mabry Smith. She and her late husband, Johnny Bailes managed WJAT Radio Station; The Nancy Auditorium featuring The Peach State Jamboree with live music by many well known artists, The Record Hop, The Roller Rink as well as The North Auditorium. Later she was employed by Kinder College for many years. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her son, John David Bailes; two sisters, Geraldine Pate, Winnie Thomposon and Golda Barnes; brother, Cecil Smith; daughter, Patricia Arnold and grandson, Chad Appling.
Survivors include:
Two Daughters: Rita C. Arnold Appling (Cecil Turner) of Alma, GA, Donna Bailes Archer (Jerry) of Summertown, GA
One Son: Rickey Dean Bailes (Kathy Turner Kelley) of Millbrook, AL
One Sister: Zelda Rose Long of Bluff City, TN
One Brother: Billy Glenn Smith of Cookeville, TN
Daughters-In-Law: Paula Ware Reeves, Nancy Youmans Bailes, and Sandra Ray Bailes.
Nine Grandchildren: Renee Sanders, Vicki Hendricks (Tim), Dallas Bailes, Scarlett Pappas (Julian), Brandon Archer, Lacey Patterson, Robbie Bailes, Perry Bailes, and Jonathon Paul Bailes.
14 Great-Grandchildren, 11 Great Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
