Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. Joe D. Smith, age 86, of Twin City, GA on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Rex Rigdon officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service; from 2:00 until 3.:00 PM.

Interment will be in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers are:  Chad Johnson, John Moseley, Ron Cannady, John Smith, Chris Ellison, Brandon Hill, Toby Durden, Jimmy Neal, Dave Henry and Scott Skrine.

Mr. Smith was born on August 7, 1931, in Norristown, Emanuel County, GA, to the late James Floyd and Bessie Skinner Smith.  He was an Army Veteran and served in the Korean War.  Mr. Smith was a retired Boilermaker with Local 26.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his special dog “Rocky”.  Mr. Smith enjoyed fishing, raising farm animals, and riding his golf cart.  He was a Baptist. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Catherine Wolfe Smith, five sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include:

One Daughter:  Joyce Cannady (Dale) of Twin City, GA

One Son:  William “Billy” Smith (Velvet) of Ashburn, GA

Three Sisters:  Nannie Lou Sewell of Cobbtown, GA, Betty Anderson of St. Mary’s, GA and Gail Stewart of Savannah, GA

Four Grandsons:  Wesley Jordan (Shana) and Zane Jordan (Laina) both of Twin City, GA, Reynolds Smith and Critt Smith both of Ashburn, GA

One Great—Grandson:  Waylen Jordan of Twin City, GA
