Jewell (Johnson) Martin

Durden Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Jewell Johnson Martin, 86, of Swainsboro, who passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, in Augusta.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Reverend Mark Hardin officiating.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 2, 2025, from 1:00 P.M to 2:00 P.M. at Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors.

Pallbearers will be David Berry, Penton Allen, Dr. Ben Timmerman, Doug Tice, Greg Johnson, Todd Willis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eustus Johnson and Leckie Muns Johnson; husband, Jack Martin; brother, Bernie Johnson; sisters, Fronell Johnson Jones, Betty Lanier.

Mrs. Martin was a 1957 graduate from ECI. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and fishing. Mrs. Martin loved being with her family and friends and loved being at home. She was a cheerleader in high school and loved basketball. She was Miss ECI runner-up. Mrs. Martin was involved in a lot of school extra curriculars, to include, one act play, band, Glee club, 4-H club.

Daughter: Tammy Berry of Augusta

Grandchildren; Tiffani Wambsgans (John) of Grovetown, Haley Bielewicz (Matt) of Martinez

Great Grandchildren: Shawn Wambsgans, Will Wambsgans, Dalie Bielewicz, Penelope Bielewicz

Sisters: Eusteen Timmerman Belding of Augusta, Dot Willis (Andy) of Twin City
