Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. James Alfred Riner, age 96, of Swainsboro, GA, on Friday, August 28, 2020, at Emanuel County Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be held in the Sardis Cemetery on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating.
CDC social distancing guidelines will be observed and masks are encouraged for your safety and others
Pallbearers are Grandsons Gray Riner, Jason Riner, Michael Riner, Richard Riner, Zach Riner, and Jordan Riner
Mr. Riner was born February 19, 1924 in Swainsboro, Emanuel County, GA to the late Edgar Reginald and Sallie Lee Lawson Riner. He was a member of the Sardis Primitive Baptist Church. Having retired from Dixie Supply as a salesman, he was affectionately known as the “Dixie Man”. Alfred was a great cook, and he would often fry turkeys for friends and neighbors during the holidays. He also loved to fish, work in his vegetable garden and dance with his beloved wife to Big Band music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 76 years, Hazel Riner, three brothers, Ulys Riner, Frank Riner, and Talmadge Riner.

Sons: Grayson Riner (Pansy) of Athens, GA, Randall “Randy” Riner (Susan) of Watkinsville, GA, and Ashley Riner (Tracy Mullis) of Adrian, GA
Sister: Emily Mason of Swainsboro, GA
Brother: Hollis Riner (Miriam) of Dublin, GA
Sister-In-Law: Imogene Riner of Swainsboro, GA
Grandchildren: Gray Riner (Lanie), Jason Riner, Michael Riner (Mary-Catherine), Richard Riner, Zach Riner (Rachel), Jordan Riner, and Amber Helms.
Great-Grandchildren: Cole, Reagan, Carter, Catherine, Ruby, Ripley, Mason, and Parker
Numerous Nieces, nephews, and extended family
