Mr. James “Britt” Hudson, age 68 of Sandersville passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Savannah Memorial Medical Center. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Drone Hudson and Mr. Jamie Thompson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Ray Smith, Eugene Prosser, Michael Robinson, Mark Hudson, Junior Yates, Cody Phillips, Royce Cordry, and Cliff Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Robinson and Earvin Cordry. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at May and Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Hudson was born in Swainsboro of June 21, 1954, the son of the late James Brinson Hudson and the late Sallie Ruth Jones Parker. Britt spent his working career as a Lab Technician at Imerys. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, and he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and shopping. Britt also had a keen interest in historical Vikings and bird watching. He loved people and never met a stranger. In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his wife, Carol Moat Hudson; grandson, Josh Sheram; and brother-in-law, Elvis McCoy.
Mr. Hudson is survived by his daughter Jill Hudson Thompson and her husband Jamie of Riddleville; son, Brent Hudson, Sr. of Riddleville; step-children, Kerri Channel of Sandersville and Sandi Smith of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Austin Kent, Maci Thompson (Cody), Shelby Hudson, Brent Hudson, Jr., Erica Smith, Emily Smith, and Tori Beth Sheram; great grandchildren, Lyric Girvin, Karson Girvin, Rylee Phillips, and Waylon Phillips; sisters, Deborah Robinson and her husband Mike, Donna Hudson McCoy, and Leslie Parker Hudson and her husband Mark, all of Warthen; beloved fur baby, Stella; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will be at Britt’s home on Northlake Drive.
