Howard L. Youmans

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. Howard L. Youmans, Jr., age 71, of Swainsboro, GA, on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at 2:00 PM in the First United Methodist Church in Swainsboro, with Rev. David Unkles officiating.

Mr. Youmans will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, March 7, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Interment will follow in the Holton Chapel Cemetery near Soperton, GA.

Pallbearers are: Victor Raley, Billy Wade, Kenny Wilson, Terry Crosby, Paul McDaniel and Joe Nasworthy.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Active and Retired Georgia State Patrol and Local Law Enforcement.

Mr. Youmans was born January 17, 1947  in  Swainsboro, GA to the late Howard L. Youmans, Sr. and Zeta Stroud Youmans.  Mr. Youmans retired from the Georgia State Patrol as a Sergeant (affectionately known as Yogi #433) with 31 years of service, and was a Background Investigating Agent with Internal Affairs.  He was a member of the Georgia Police Officers Association (POGA), the Swainsboro  Masonic Lodge #244, the Afternoon Coffee Club, and was a life long member of the Swainsboro First United Methodist Church. After retirement he enjoyed working crossword puzzles, was an avid reader, and a regular visitor with Barklee at the Church Street Manor.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-son, Jeremy Poole.

Chosen Daughter: Tracy Brown Childs (John) of St. Simons, GA

Special Grandchildren: Ashton, Ansley and Capers Childs.

Special Cousin: Lynn Taylor (Ray) of Swainsboro, GA

Fur Babies: Baylee and Barklee

Nieces, nephews, special friends and extended family.

Three Children: Lamar, Kim and Brian
