Helen Joiner (Upton) Tanajewski

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Helen Joiner-Tanajewski, age 94, of Swainsboro, GA, on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Emanuel Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 2:00pm at Swainsboro City Cemetery with Rev. Jonathan Shepard officiating.

Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30pm on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Durden-Hudson Funeral  Directors.

Mrs. Joiner was born April 30, 1925 to the late Thatcher J. and Roxianna Lamar Upton. Mrs. Helen was born in Wrens Georgia, but lived most of her life in Swainsboro. Her first husband was a musician and she enjoyed traveling, but her love was for her children and grandchildren. Helen bragged on and spoiled them all. She was a member of Calvary Methodist Church in Swainsboro and retired from Swainsboro Sportswear. She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands; John Olin Joiner, Jr. and Walter Tanajewski; her parents,  two sisters, Mary U. Smith and Jean U. Baird; four brothers, Jack, Roy, Joe, Clark and George Upton.

Survivors include:

Daughter: Shirley J. Driggers of Swainsboro, GA

Brother: Stanley Upton (Connie) of Wadley, GA

Three Grandchildren: Paula Akins (Dave) of Swainsboro, GA, Mark Driggers (Debra), of Swainsboro, GA and Jimmy Driggers.

Eight Great-Grandchildren and Six Great-Great-Grandchildren
