Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Helen McBride Bishop, age 85, of Culloden, GA, formerly of Swainsboro, on Sunday, March 3, 2019, at Monroe County Hospital in Forsyth, GA.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at 2:00 PM, in Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Elder W. H. Durrence officiating.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, March 5, 2019, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Eastbrook Cemetery and Mausoleum.
Pallbearers are: Chester Grant, J. B. Haygood, Dean Darden, John Pierson, Sam Mize and Al Abercrombie.
Mrs. Bishop was born April 29, 1933 in Swainsboro, Emanuel County, GA to the late Perry and Julia Beasley McBride. She was employed by the Swainsboro High School as secretary to the Principal for many years and retired from South East Bulloch High School in Statesboro, GA. Mrs. Bishop was a member of Sharon Primitive Baptist Church in Culloden, GA and a member of the Church Ladies Group; she was past member of the Primitive Baptist Minister’s Wive’s Group and devotedly served along beside her husband in the ministry for 40 years. Mrs. Bishop was a Graduate of The Augusta Business College and Past President of the Swainsboro Junior Womens Club. She enjoyed walking their dog “Flossie”, refinishing antique furniture and fishing. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Rudolph "Doc" McBride (Evelyn).

One Grandson: Clay Price (Amanda) of Savannah, GA
Several nieces, nephews and extended family.
