Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Hazel Brantley Riner, age 94 of Swainsboro, GA, on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating.
Interment will follow in the Sardis Primitive Baptist Cemetery near Kite, GA with Rev. Arthur Conley officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 AM till time of service.
Pallbearers are Grandsons: Gray Riner, Jason Riner, Michael Riner, Richard Riner, Zach Riner, and Jordan Riner.
Mrs. Riner was born September 19, 1924 in Kite, Johnson County, GA to the late Kermit B. and Zelma Colston Brantley, was a 1941 graduate of Kite High School, played basketball, was valedictorian and last surviving member of her class. She was a dental assistant for Dr. Fason, a homemaker and a great cook, known for her Caramel Cakes and Fried Apple Pies. She and her husband of 76 years loved to dance and danced often to the big bands of their time. Mrs. Riner was a member of the Swainsboro First Baptist Church and was a very active member of the Agape Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Hubert Brantley.

Three Sons: James "Grayson" Riner (Pansy) of Athens, GA, Ulys Randall "Randy" Riner (Susan) of Watkinsville, GA, and John "Ashley" Riner (Tracy Mullis) of Adrian, GA.
Sister-In-Law: Lucille Brantley of Kite, Ga
Seven Grandchildren: Gray Riner (Lanie), Jason Riner, Michael Riner (Mary-Catherine), Richard Riner, Zach Riner (Rachel), Jordan Riner, and Amber Helms.
Eight Great-Grandchildren: Cole, Reagan, Carter, Catherine, Ruby, Ripley, Mason, Parker, nieces, nephews and extended family.
