Hazel Colcock Obituary

Mrs. Hazel Nella Key Colcock, 84, of Twin City passed away Monday, October 14, 2024, at her residence. Mrs. Hazel was born June 26, 1940 in Metter to the late William Clark Key and Elizabeth Stewart Key. She is preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter, Chandler Hamby.

Mrs. Hazel was a member of Twin City Methodist Church for 21 years. She graduated from Savannah High School in 1958 and received an associate’s degree from Armstrong College in Savannah. She worked as a kindergarten teacher, a secretary, and worked at the South Carolina United Methodist Conference Center where she served as administrative assistant to the South Carolina United Methodist Bishop.

She retired having served the last 21 years of her career in that position. After retirement, she and Charles built their home in Emanuel County, on the old Parrish settlement that had belonged to her family for several years. There she enjoyed outings with friends, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was very crafty. Mrs. Hazel loved to sew and enjoyed cooking. She loved working with her flowers.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles Colcock; daughters, Stacey Amick (Carrol) of Lexington, SC, Amy Hamby (Gregg) of Blythewood, SC; grandchildren, Madison Patterson (Robby), Lawson Estridge (Amy), Morgan Hamby, Mason Hamby (Sarah), Miles Hamby, Mathew Hamby; great granddaughter is Elena Chandler Hamby; first cousin, Calvin Stewart; many, many friends.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2024, at Twin City Methodist Church with Reverend Randall Smith officiating.

Interment will follow at El Bethel Baptist Church Cemtery in Twin City.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2024, at Twin City Methodist Church.

The Pallbearers will be Mrs. Hazel’s grandsons; Lawson Estridge, Mason Hamby, Matthew Hamby, Miles Hamby, and Morgan Hamby.

The family would like to thank Cherry Allen for the care and love she provided.

Memorial may be made to Twin City Methodist Church in Mrs. Hazel’s name. The address of the church is 212 S College Street, Twin City, GA 30471.
