Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Flossie Parrish McGowan, age 91, of Swainsboro, GA, on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Scott Health and Rehab.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 2:00 PM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Phil Wilson officiating.
Interment will follow in the Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Metter, GA.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Danny McGowan, Randy McGowan, Noah McGowan, Wayne McGowan, Dillon Greene and Alex McGowan.
Mrs. McGowan was born on October 15, 1929, in Emanuel County, GA to the late Lee and Dovie Hayes Parrish and was a graduate of Metter High School. She retired from Swainsboro Sportswear after 40 years as a secretary. Her greatest joy was spending time with family, especially her granddaughter and great-grandsons and taking family vacations. Mrs. McGowan was quite the sports fan, attending University of Georgia games for 30 years. Reading mystery novels was another favorite past time of hers, when she was not rooting the Bulldogs on to their next victory. She was a member of the Swainsboro First Baptist Church and in addition to her parents was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Calvin C. McGowan; granddaughter, Danna Tapley Sturgis; sister, Nellie Parrish Creech; and brother, Rollin Parrish.

Great-Grandsons: Landon McDonald of St Genevieve, MO, Les Paul Sturgis of Cedar Crossing, GA, and Dillon Greene of Covington, GA
Great Great-Grandson: Lukas Greene of Covington, GA
Sisters-In-Law: Albinia McGowan of Metter, GA and JoAnn Parrish Grube of Canoochee, GA
