Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Ms. Ethel Virginia “Ginny” Henderson, age 89 of Appling, GA a native of Twin City, GA on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at the Harrington Park Health and Rehab in Augusta, GA.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 3:00PM in the Twin City United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Miller officiating
Interment will follow in the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at the church.
Ms. Henderson, “Ginny” was born August 1, 1932, in Twin City, GA, to the late Robert “Bobby” T. and Ethel M. Young Henderson, received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Aiken Technical College, and retired from Savannah River Site.
Known as “Ginny Wright”, Country Music Star and Louisiana Hayride member she had two number one country music records and several other chart records. She was named “Cash Box” Magazine’s Most Promising Up and Coming Female Vocalist in 1954 and was also inducted into the Louisiana Hayride Hall of Fame in 2003. After retirement “Ginny” enjoyed gardening, was an avid painter, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by 8 siblings.

Children: Debra Josey of Riddleville, GA, Rhonda Josey of Blythe, GA, Shawn Josey (Jennifer) of Appling, GA, Kyle Josey (Tarynn) of Evans, GA, Christian Josey (Rebecca) also of Appling, GA and Bradley Josey of Blythe, GA
10 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great-Grandchild, nieces, nephews and extended family.
