Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. Donald Gene “Don” Morris, age 84, of Swainsboro, GA, on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Cedar Plantation, Metter, GA.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 25, 2022, at 2:00 PM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. John David Durden and Dustin Durden officiating.
The family will receive family and friends on Friday, February 25, 2022, at the funeral home from 1:00 PM till time of service.
Interment will follow in the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Twin City, GA.
Pallbearers are Daniel Durden, David Durden, Evan Durden, Donnie Wells, Ricky Collins and Ray Collins.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Swainsboro Tech Retirees.
Mr. Morris, “Don” was born September 15, 1937, in Oak Park, Emanuel County, GA, to the late Ranzie Turner Morris and Sudie Coleman Morris. In his youth, he was an active member of Emanuel County 4-H, and in 1955 was Chief of Muscogee Tribe at Rock Eagle 4-HCamp. He was a graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, and for 24 years he was Director of Career Counseling with Swainsboro Technical College.He was a devoted loving husband, father and grandfather and a member of Scarboro Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Mae Wells Morris; sons, David Durden and Wendell Durden; sisters, Christine Morris and Matalice Kelly; and brother, Eugene Morris.
Survivors include:
Daughter-In-Law: Zebe Durden Henry (Cooper) of Twin City, GA.
Grandchildren: Rebecca Ann Carreon (Joseph), John David Durden (Jeana) and Dustin Durden (Sherrie).
Great-Grandchildren: David Durden II, Zoe Durden, Evan Durden, Daniel Durden, Abigail Durden, Mary Katherine Durden and Samuel Durden.
Great-Great-Grandchild: Adler Hickman.
