Dewey James Fortescue Sr.

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. Dewey James Fortescue Sr., age 72, of Twin City, GA, on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, who passed away at home surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Michael Plowman officiating.

Interment will follow in the New Hope Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service

Pallbearers are  Dustin Fortescue, Tyrone Fortescue, Cody Fortescue, Daniel Rogers, Bubba Kirby and Shawn Wiseman.

Mr. Fortescue was born March 4, 1945, in Charlotte, NC, to the late Dewey Martin and Pearline Wallace Fortescue and lived most of his life in Twin City, GA.  He was a carpenter and mechanic by trade and enjoyed hunting, fishing and racing as his favorite pastimes. Mr. Fortescue was of the Baptist faith and in addition to his parents was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ida Fortescue; son, Frankie Allen Fortescue; grandson, Robert Wayne Oglesby and great-grandson Kaiden Bryce Wainwright.

Survivors include:

Three Daughters: Teresa Spangler (Richard) of Rentz, GA Pearline "Missy" Jarrel (Ricky) of Odum, GA and Tina Oglesby (Robert) of Portal, GA

Three Sons: Dewey James Fortescue Jr. (Christina) of Waverly, GA, Dean Fortescue (Cindy) and Larry Fortescue (Judy) all of Twin City, GA

Two Sisters: Dorothy J. Miles on Yulee, FL and Peggy Brown of Twin City, GA

One Brother: Charles Larry Fortescue of Twin City, GA

15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, 6 Step-great-grandchildren,

Caregiver: Jerry Lawson,  nieces, nephews, and extended family.
