Barbara Elaine (Parnell) Truluck

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Barbara Elaine Truluck, age 76, formally of South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at Cedar Plantation in Metter, GA.

 Graveside Services will be conducted on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Olanta, S.C.

 CDC social distancing guidelines will be observed and masks are encouraged for your safety and the well being of others.

 Born in Hemmingway, S.C., Elaine was the daughter of Wesley Laroy Parnell and Cecil Mae Parnell. She was a 1962 Graduate of J. Paul Truluck High School in which she was a majorette and played basketball. She also enjoyed participating in pageants and was crowned, “Mrs. Lake City” in 1960. After high school she attended McCloud School of Nursing and became a Licensed Nurse Practitioner working for The State of South Carolina, DHEC offices. After retirement Elaine loved to shop, watch soap operas and spend time with her sister. She was an avid Clemson fan. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, Emory Donald Carter and Dr. Charles Harry Truluck.

 Survivors Include:

 Her Daughter: Shannon Elaine Carter of Florence, SC

 Her Son: John Milton Carter, III.

 Her Sister: Annie Elizabeth “Betty” Lewis of Metter, GA

 Her Brothers: Thomas Hoyt Parnell and Wesley Laroy Parnell, Jr.

 Local Niece: Holly N. (Keith) Aldrich of Metter, GA, other nieces, nephews and other extended family.
