Ava Iris (Day) Riner

Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Ava Iris Day Riner, age 88, of Swainsboro, GA on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Summer Willow Assisted Living.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 31, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the United Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Curt Grimm officiating.

Interment will be Private.     

Mrs. Ava will lie in state one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers are Justin Hartmeyer, Walker Williams, Grant Barry, Andy Bedgood, David Barnett and Jeffery Gray.

Mrs. Ava was born August 6, 1934, in Douglas, Coffee County, GA, to the late Allen and Evie Phillips Day. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Ava was a homemaker and great southern lady. Growing up in an age where women dressed, she was well known for her flair and stylishness. She was a collector of unique and unusual artifacts. Mrs. Ava was a member of United Primitive Baptist Church and in addition to her parents was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Perry Raymond Riner; son, Shea Hartmeyer; sisters, Marilyn McMillen and Lenora Pope.

Survivors include:

Daughter: Stormy Hartmeyer of Swainsboro, GA

Sons: Steve Hartmeyer, Derek Hartmeyer (Karen) all of Swainsboro, GA

Step-Sons: Larry Riner (Melissa) of Vidalia, GA and Donny Riner (Kandy)  of Dudley, GA

Brother: John Allen Day (Carol) of Astor, FL.

Grandchildren: Cheyenne Douglas (Shon), Michael Hartmeyer, Justin Hartmeyer, Ciarra Hartmeyer Barry (Grant), Walker Williams, Maranda Mitchell, and Amanda Scott, April Riner Stafford (Mitch), Kristopher Raymond “Kris” Riner (JoAnna), Jennifer Riner Bell (Corbin).

15 Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
