Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Horace Donald Grimes, age 87, of Swainsboro, GA on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at the Heritage Healthcare Center after an extended illness.
 
Funeral services are Wednesday, February 3rd at 2 PM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Louis Pearce and Rev. Wayne Page officiating.
 
Interment will be in the Swainsboro City Cemetery with military honors.
 
Pallbearers are Robert Edenfield, Chucky Canady, Edger Wiggins, Harry Wiggins, Russell Moore, David Steptoe, Jeremy Page and Rusty Moore
 
The family will receive friends at Durden-Hudson Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 5 – 8 PM.
 
Mr. Grimes was a native of Emanuel County, a World War II Army veteran and worked with Swainsboro Supply for 18 years and with Bi-Lo. He was a member of Mt Shady Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents; Perry and Nadine Spradley Grimes, a sister; Carolyn Cox and one step-great-grandchild; Thomas Coleman.

His Wife: Sybil Wiggins Grimes of Swainsboro, GA
 
One Son and Daughter-In-Law: Glenn Grimes, Sr. and Mary of Swainsboro, GA
 
2 Half-Sisters: Jane Bell of N. Augusta, SC and Sammie Morrison of Jacksonville, GA
 
2 Half-Brothers: Carl Lee Grimes of Swainsboro, GA and Arthur Edenfield of Jacksonville, FL
 
2 Grandchildren: Glenn Grimes, Jr. and Wendy Grimes of Metter, GA and Tammy and Mike Cross of Swainsboro, GA
 
 4 Great-Grandchildren: Lexie Cross, Jacob Grimes, Aaralyn Grimes, Taylor Cross

I know you are going to miss your Daddy, but just remember how blessed you were to have him as long as you have. You have been a good son and have done him proud.

Glenn, so sorry for your loss. I worked with your dad at S'boro Sportswear in the cutting room for 3 yrs. We had some good times and lots of fun. Lanier

Sybil , Don was a dear friend . We had many good chats from time to time. I know you will miss him very much. Just remember that God will be there to strengthen you day by day.

Dear Cousin, I will miss our yearly get-together. The long talks we shared about family and our lives. You were like an older brother to my oldest brother. Now both you ae gone. My trips to Georgia will never be the same. I am thankful the times you, Sybil and I had on my visits. Sybil always cooked my favorite meal. My love goes out to you and Sybil. I will miss you very much cousin. Give my love to Sybil.

I did not realize your father had passed away until reading it online today. Please know you are in my prayers because I know how close you were to your father. I know it hurts, but God can comfort you like no one else, and I know He will. My prayers are with you.
