Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Mary Nell Youmans Harrell, age 72, of Swainsboro on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 1:00pm in the Swainsboro City Cemetery with her Step-Son, Rev. Jim Harrell , pastor of Nunez Baptist Church officiating.
Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 19, from 12pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
CDC social distancing guidelines will be observed and masks will be encouraged for your safety and the health and well being of others.
Pallbearers will be Russ Harrell, P.O. Youmans, Mike Youmans, Jeffrey Peebles, Darrell Wilson, Vaughn Riner, Bill Carmichael, and Robert Thompson.
Honorary Escorts will be Calvary United Methodist Women.
Mrs. Harrell was born in Metter, GA on January 28, 1948 to the late George A. Sr. and Sue Nell West Youmans. She attended public schools in Emanuel County and graduated from Swainsboro High School in 1966. After graduating from Georgia Southern College in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics; she taught elementary school in Oak Park, before going to work as a Case Worker One with the Department of Family Services in Emanuel County for over 30 years, from which she retired. Later in life, she married James B. Harrell until his death in 2017. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and Calvary United Methodist Women. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Step-Son: Jim Harrell (Tammy) of Twin City, GA
Brother: George “Andy” Youmans, Jr. (Brenda) of Washington, GA.
Step-Grandchildren: Lindsey Wilson Howell (Chase) of Kite, GA, Russ Harrell (Destiny) of Collins, GA and Zoie Harrell of Twin City, GA
Step-Great Grandchildren: Wilson and Walker Howell.
Nephew: George Andy Youmans, III (Maggie) of Roswell, GA
