My mom, Louise Smith Walding (Guy Smith’s elder daughter), and Peggy were first cousins. My mom loved Peggy very much! I first met Peggy when I was five years old, and she came through Charlotte, North Carolina where we lived and stayed with us. She taught me how to sew and played with me. I thought she was so neat and wished she could’ve stayed for weeks. She was passing through on her way somewhere, and I’m so grateful she did. I will always remember her attending my mom‘s funeral and what a comfort it was to me to have her there. And also when my dear cousins Guy and Jim died, once again she was there. She was the one I would call to let all the family know of these passings. She loved her family so much and kept us all connected. She was inspirational in her good health, strong mind, and vitality. I will miss her very much! I so wish I could’ve been at her funeral. I know it was lovely and her life was well celebrated by many many people who loved her. I look forward to seeing her again one day in heaven with so many other dear loved ones.
Blessings to you,
Gayle Shackelford

Joe, Susan & family - I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your precious Mother. She was a special lady to me & I enjoyed a lot of visits with her & your Dad in Folkston. It was obvious how much she loved her family. I know how Mrs. Gowen (Ann Clyde) looked forward to seeing her. She would always get a twinkle in her eye & say with excitement "Peggy & Jake are stopping by." My sincere sympathy to each of you.
