Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of  Mr. Dorsey Peebles, age 100, of Adrian, GA, on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at Augusta University Medical Center.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 27, 2019 at 12:00 Noon in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. David Oliver officiating.

Interment will follow in the Eastbrook Cemetery with Military Honors

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, September 27, 2019 from 11:00 AM till time of service.

Pallbearers are Andy Webb, Jack Webb, Art Brantley, Brian Peebles, Bo Bo Peebles, James Brantley and Tim Schaaf.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Owen Simmons, Bobby Simmons, David Moore, Eric Jeffers, Joseph Webb, Hinton Webb, Trey Webb, and Rowland Anderson.

Mr. Peebles was born October 18, 1918 in Adrian, Emanuel County, GA to the late Ebenezer and Bertie Moore Peebles.  He served four years in the US Army during WWII, landing on Omaha Beach, and fought with the 1st infantry (Big Red One) on D-Day at Normandy Beach. Mr. Peebles also fought in Sicily and North Africa.  He retired from Continental Can after 26 years and was a member of the American Legion, CCC Camp, Georgia Sheriffs Association, Youth Home, VFW and was of the Baptist faith.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Anderson and Nell King; three brothers, James Peebles, Tommy Peebles, and Tony Durden.

Survivors include:

His wife of 69 years: Lue Virsey Peebles of Adrian, GA

One Daughter: Linda Peebles Renfroe Hutcheson of Adrian, GA

One Son: Dorsey "Steve" Peebles (Sharon) of Adrian, GA

One Sister: JoAnn James (Joe) of Augusta, GA

Three Grandchildren: Kriston R. Watkins (Robert), Lane Underwood (Jody) and Brian Peebles (Mary).

Five Great-Grandchildren: Gabby Watkins, Gavin Watkins, Raven Watkins, Judson Underwood, Ava Underwood, nieces, nephews and extended family

Please know that I am praying for you during this time. My Uncle Woodrow and Aunt Mary Jo always enjoyed visiting with him when Jo would get clothes altered. Let me know if I can help in any way

Uncle Dorsey was a Man among men. He was a great role model and one of the men I respect most in my life. Always a great honor to be in his presence. I will greatly miss him. You will be forever missed by many many people Uncle Dorsey!

Worked at CCC with Dorsey...………...just loved working with him & being called Boy!!! I was in Warrenton office but saw him at meetings and some work jobs. He set such a great example or us younger fellows. will never forget Dorsey
