Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of  Mrs. Peggy L. Thompson, age 92, of Vidalia, GA, on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 27, 2019 at 3:00 PM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel with Rev. Clarence Thompson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday afternoon from 2-3 PM.

Pallbearers are  Kendall Palmer, Lynn Scott, Mike Rowland, Johnny Ware, Chuck Clarkson and Roberto Marrero.

Mrs. Thompson was born June 27, 1927 to the late James Silas and Nettie Hicks Lawson in Swainsboro, Emanuel County, GA.  She was a licensed insurance agent for 30 years, working with Hugh Coleman Insurance Co., Dekle Gibson Insurance Agency, Rich Insurance Co. and retired from Zorn Insurance Agency.  Mrs. Thompson loved music, was a member of the Ebenezer Methodist Church and the church Pianist for many years. She loved spending time with family, friends, enjoyed playing cards, cooking and gardening, growing greens and tomatoes. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard A. Thompson; daughter, Marty Antrim and sister, Billie L. Scott.

Survivors include:

Two Daughters: Jan Palmer (Kendall) of Vidalia, GA and Carol Ciola (Charles) of Marengo, OH.

Six Grandchildren: Janna Palmer, Joe Phillips (Darcy), Jodee Mullins (Tony), Matt Antrim (Laurie), Brian Antrim (Ellen) and Brittany Kromalic (David)

Special Niece: Harriett Scott Lawson of Swainsboro, GA.

Several Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Foundation of Emanuel Medical Center, In care of Kristin Hall, P.O. Box 627, Swainsboro, GA, 30401, in memory of Mrs. Peggy Lawson Thompson for the benefit of the Nursing Home.

I felt so privileged to have known Peggy and her family and also her sister, Billie Scott and her family. I fist got to know them in 1975 and always enjoyed my visits to them in Swainsboro over the years. What a dear person - she fought a good fight. Rest in pease.

I was so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. She was such a wonderful person and we had so many fun times together. When you were around her you were sure to hear a lot if laughter. Wish I could be there for yoy cause I know what it is like to loose your mother.
