Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of  Mr. Thomas Foster Sanders Jr., age 86, a native of Swainsboro, on Friday, August 16, 2019, at Cedar Plantation in Metter, GA.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at 3:00 PM in the Peebles-Curry Memorial Chapel.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 PM til time of service.

Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Randy Karrh, Greg Karrh, Jim Mercer, Richard Daniels, Sam Daniels, and Ed Daniels.

Mr. Sanders was born April 2, 1933 in Swainsboro, Emanuel County, GA to the late Thomas F. "Dutch" Sr. and Lucille Hilburn Sanders. He was a 1950 graduate of Swainsboro High School and received his Masters from UGA (University of Georgia). Mr. Sanders worked for the Department of Defense for 32 years, teaching Social Studies; coaching Wrestling, Football, Soccer and Basketball, in Japan, Germany and England on several United States military bases. He settled his family in Monteagle, TN for 15 years before returning to Montezuma, GA.

His Wife: Marianne Lester Sanders of Capron, GA

One Daughter: Leslie Johnson (Russell) of Swainsboro, GA

Two Sons: Thomas Kibbee Sanders of Chattanooga, TN and Carlton Eugene Sanders (Nessi) of Bloomington, IN

Five Grandchildren: Charles Alan “Chip” Morgan, Thomas Sanders, Schuyler Angus Johnson, Elizabeth Caledonia Sanders, and Tiernan Hilburn Johnson.

Deepest sympathies to Tom Sanders' family. Such a lovely man - I know he will be sorely missed. We at St. Mary's appreciated Tom and his Family so much when they attended St. Mary's years ago. Our prayers and thoughts are with them all.
