Funeral services for Marvin C. “Buddy” Sasser, 89, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 5, 2019, at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home, Cairo, GA.  Pastor Johnny Moore will officiate.  Private family interment will be in the Sasser Cemetery, Whigham, GA.  Mr. Sasser passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.

Active pallbearers will be David Connell, Branklyn Ferrell, Luke Bell, Mike Murphy, Tim Lindsey and George Trulock.  Honorary pallbearers will be all active and retired law enforcement personnel.

Mr. Sasser was born on October 20, 1929, in Whigham, GA, to the late Marvin G. Sasser and Alma Walden Sasser.  He served his country as a gunner on a Twin Mount 20 mm Cannon aboard the U.S.S. Prairie in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.  On December 6, 1952 he married Louise Darley Sasser, who survives.  He served with the Cairo Police Department for over 30 years and as Chief of Police for 18 years.  He was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Whigham.            

Survivors include: his wife of 66 years, Louise Sasser of Cairo, GA; son, M. Franklin Sasser (Tammy) of Garfield, GA; daughter, Carol Dalton (Danny) of Swannanoa, NC; grandchildren, Dr. M. Tyler Sasser of Tuscaloosa, AL, Johanna Dalton of Swannanoa, NC; sisters, Jean Beavans of Cairo, GA, Sheridan Harrell of Whigham, GA; and a host of extended family.   

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Earl F. Sasser.

The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, July 5, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
