Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Joseph Reid "Joe" Peebles, age 62, this morning at his home in Kansas City, Missouri after an extended illness.  He had been undergoing treatment by the kind and conscientious medical staff of the Veterans Administration Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 2:30 PM at New Beginnings in Christ Church in Garfield, GA, with Rev. Michael Ogden and Rev. Morris Brantley officiating with Military Honors.

 Private Interment will be held at a later date.

Mr. Peebles was born and reared in Swainsboro, GA. He attended Georgia Southern College and earned degrees in electronics and computer technology from Swainsboro Technical School and Platte County (Missouri) Technical College.  He Served in the U. S. Army as a Second Lieutenant, enjoying a tour in Germany.  Mr. Peebles lived in Kansas City for over 30 years, where he wrote computer software and performed stand-up comedy. Mr. Peebles was preceded in death by his father, J. R. Peebles, his mother, Mildred Morris Kennedy, and a brother, Paul Peebles.

Survivors include:

Four Sisters: Connie P. Terwilliger (John) of Swainsboro, GA, Carol Bailey (Bill) of Magnolia Springs, AL, Sandra Flanders (Richard) of Columbus, GA and Peggy Ickard of Eldorado, KS.

Two Brothers: Wade Peebles of Garfield, GA and Randall Peebles (Lisa) of Swainsboro, GA.

His Companion of 17 years: Rose Proctor
