Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Miss Taylor Nicole Hooks, age 19, of Swainsboro, GA on Friday, May 26, 2017.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 11 AM in the Swainsboro First Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Bedgood officiating.
Interment will follow in the Eastbrook Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5-8 PM.
Pallbearers are Jarrod Downer, Zach Thompson, Tyler Thompson, Jarret Henry, Landon Kennedy, Marshall Williamson, Justin Thompson and Michael Armstrong.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the ECI Class of 2016
Miss Hooks was born September 15, 1997 in Savannah, GA and lived all her life in Swainsboro, Emanuel County, GA. A 2016 ECI (Emanuel County Institute) Honor Graduate, receiving numerous awards, Star Honor Roll 9-12, Academic Excellence Award, Highest Average Chemistry Award, lst place Region FFA Ag Sales Award and was also a member of the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America). A member of the Duel Enrollment/Move on When Ready Program, Taylor attended East Georgia State College, was a Correll Scholar, received the Missouri Canady Dudley Scholarship, East Georgia State College leadership Scholarship, Correll Scholarship, Johnson Coca-Cola Scholarship and the Pin Hi Scholarship. In addition to excelling in education Taylor also excelled in Horsemanship, one of the many loves of her life. Competing extensively in barrel racing she was a Past Reserve Round Champion at the Youth World Finals, Top Ten finalist at the Open World Finals, held multiple Georgia Sports Area Buckle Series titles, was a Top 5 Finalist at the All American Youth Barrel Race and a multiple arena record setter on her mare Turn Three for Money, aka Shorty. In addition to her accomplishments in the sport of barrel racing Taylor also competed in coonhound bench shows where she won at the highest level. She was a multiple Georgia State Champion, Alabama State Champions and lead dogs to the winners circle at such prestigious events as The Grand American, Autumn Oaks, Winter Classic, Southeastern Treeing Walker Days and Youth Nationals. Taylor was of the baptist faith and a member of the Dellwood Baptist Church.

Paternal Grandparents: J.W. and Mickey Hooks of Swainsboro, GA
Great Grandparents: Elizabeth Smith of Statesboro, GA and Raymond and Ava Riner of Swainsboro, GA
Aunts and Uncles: Kris and Joanna Riner of Vidalia, GA and Ray and Tabatha Downer of Swainsboro, GA
Many cousins, extended family and her beloved dogs Oliver and Shug.

Taylor sat on the first row of my Biology class at East Georgia State College last semester. Her vivacious presence and great attitude was a ray of sunshine in my day. I am heart-sick with her loss. My thoughts and prayers, as well as those of my Sunday School class, are with her family.

So sorry to here about the lose of Taylor, such a beautiful, sweet young Lady that left this world way to soon. She was a great competitive young barrel racer that loved the thrill of the barrel racing game. She will be sadly missed by her family, friends and barrel racing fans. RIP Miss Taylor.
