Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mrs. Dorothy B. Tanner, age 94, of Twin City on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at the Candler County Hospital in Metter, GA.

Funeral services will be Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the Twin City First Baptist Church with Rev. Franklin Sasser officiating.

Interment will be in the Twin  City Cemetery

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5-7 P

Mrs. Tanner will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers are Stephen Curry, Robert Maharrey, Chris Curry, Patrick Maharrey,  Sean Maharrey, Gareth Barendse, George Sturgis and Bill Mathis

Honorary Escorts will be Twin City First Baptist Church WMU and Gleaner's Sunday School Class

Mrs. Tanner was born in Bainbridge, GA the only child of the late Robert Lee Bethea and Clyde Lowery Bethea. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert Norman Tanner Sr. and her great aunt and uncle Posthuma Dorothy and Davis M. Johnson.  She was a member of the Twin City First Baptist Church since 1955, an active member of the WMU and the Gleaners Sunday School Class. Mrs. Tanner was a ward clerk for the Candler County Hospital and also work with her husband for many years at the Twin City Drug Co.

Survivors include:

Two Daughters: Helen Curry (Dr. Leon Curry) of Metter, GA, and Sherry Maharrey of Folly Beach, SC

One Son: Robert Norman Tanner Jr. (Diane) of Hilton Head, SC

Six Grandchildren: Stephen A.  Curry, Robert O. Maharrey (Karla), Chris Curry, Patrick Maharrey (Constance), Sean Maharrey (Heather) and Jennifer Bethea Tanner (Gareth)

Seven Great-Grandchildren: Rory, Ryan, Tanner, Katie, Brandon, Reagan and Zane.
